Slide Scanning Pros

Emulsion:

To help the scanning process go smoothly it is best if the emulsion side is facing the same way
on all your slides when packing them. Use this chart to help you determine the emulsion side.
Feel free to look at this list of examples that we have scanned.
We hope it will help you determine the emulsion side of your slides.

Emulsion Side

Picture
  • Holding the slide up at a angle to the light the image appears in relief.
  • Film tends to be slightly concave.
  • Might have words "Kodachrome Transparency Processed by Kodak" or other brand.
  • Might have words "Kodachrome Duplicate made by Kodak"
  • Might have the words "This side toward screen"
  • On 110 slides (the tiny ones) the emulsion side of the mount tends to be blank.

The Other Side

Picture
  • The reflection is just shinny.
  • Tends to be slightly convex.
  • Might have date stamped and slide number stamped.

  • The other side of 110 slides often has a little window cut out with the slide number

SEATTLE FILM WORKS FILM IS BACKWARDS. You have to put the emulsion side the other way.
